Each group’s voice is carried to the whole of AA by its GSR, General Service Representative. GSRs attend District monthly meetings to represent the group at the district level (District 7a or 7b) and attend the quarterly Area Assemblies to represent the group at Area level (Area 14). GSR will bring group’s thoughts, news, events to the DCM (District Committee Member) and to the Delegate (Area) who then passes them on to the Annual Conference. In return, the GSR brings back to the group the information and remedies that affect AA’s unity, health, and growth.
The General Service Representative has the job of linking his or her group with AA as a whole. The GSR represents the voice of the group conscious, reporting the group’s thoughts to the DCM and to the Delegate, who passes them on to the Conference” ~ General Service Manual page S26
